Playa Flamenca

No one could call Playa Flamenca a typical Spanish community since up until nineteen seventy two it was a piece of interesting but featureless coastline. It only became popular after the nineteen seventies when a gang of Flemish property investors made a decision to build it into a holiday resort.

Playa Flamenca - Essentially, Playa Flamenca can't be referred to as a typical Spanish community, before 1972 it was just a section of stark but pristine coast. At the start of 1970's a team of Flemish property investors took it on themselves to develop the area and thanks to their dream it's evolved into the widely known resort that it now is.

Currently Playa Flamenca, is one of the most attractive destinations on this stretch of the coastline and the  renovated sea path and beachfront are a great improvement. The coast path runs all the way from the large town of Torrevieja to Dehesa de Campoamor, going past Playa Flamenca on the way, hugging the stunning coastal resorts of La Zenia, Cabo Roig and Punta Prima.

The well-known Playa Flamenca street market occurs every Saturday and locals and holidaymakers flock from miles around to this appealing and vibrant street market. Established on the main road through Playa Flamenca, beyond the Mercadona supermarket, it stretches for around a kilometre and though it does get rather hectic, the wide avenue on which it is held facilitates ample space for market visitors to enjoy the many stalls and products.  The range of products available for sale on the Playa Flamenca market is mindblowing, you can purchase toys, plants, bags, fashion goods and confectionery, as well as stock up on locally grown, fresh vegetables and fruit or hot bread cooked on the day. You certainly will feel peckish when you pass the spit-roast chicken booth, so why don't you get a mouth watering garlic chicken, or you might watch a traditional Spanish paella being cooked right before your eyes and taste some for your lunch. The beaches are naturally where sun idolisers will go to when in the Playa Flamenca area.

For shops, drinking and dining you should go to Via Park coupled with the Flamenca Beach centre. During the warm evenings there you can join in a pub quiz, try your hand at karaoke, catch up on the latest sport, watch a live band or merely have a drink or two. You'll also find eating places offering menus from all around the world.

With the region experiencing more than three hundred days of sunshine each year, it is not a surprise that the climate is one of the leading things that the town has to offer. Even though the winter months provide fine but cooler weather, making it a very popular area for wintertime holidays for people desperate to have a break from the cold winters of the Northern European countries, the best of the weather conditions are during the months of May through October and that's when Playa Flamenca properly starts to hum with visitors from Spain and Europe descending on the resort. Thus to make the most of of the sun, head to Playa Flamenca.

Playa Flamenca is in addition a popular place for golf fans to head to with a variety of courses just a short car journey from the resort. These golf courses comprise of the Orihuela Costa golf courses, Real Club de Golf Campoamor, Las Ramblas and Villa Martin, along with some other easy to reach courses which include Lo Romero Golf at Campoverde, La Finca Golf near Algorfa, the La Marquesa course near Rojales, the Colinas Golf and Country Club at San Miguel de Salinas as well as the varied golf clubs along the nearby Mar Menor coast. I strongly endorse Villamartin as the top option for those vacationing in Playa Flamenca.

Playa Flamenca is easy to access from both Alicante and Murcia (San Javier) airport by using either the AP-7 autopista or the N-332 coast road, Murcia (San Javier) airport is 15 miles by car whilst El Altet (Alicante) airport is 42 miles drive.
